My family and I love Clayton ga. We are looking into starting a campground and are considering the area. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. Just want to know if there is enough tourist to keep me going throughout the year to keep it profitable

Just to be clear, there are two areas in Georgia with the place name of "Clayton."

There is Clayton County, Georgia, an urban county of more than 285,000 people in Atlanta's near southern suburbs.

And there is the city of Clayton, Georgia, a small city of fewer than 2,300 people located in Rabun County in the geographical footprint of the Chattahoochee National Forest in the heavily wooded rural/far-outer exurban mountainous northeast corner of the state of Georgia.

Since you are talking about wanting to start a campground, I will assume that you are talking about the small city of Clayton in Rabun County in the heavily wooded rural/far-outer exurban mountainous northeast corner of the state of Georgia.

The small city of Clayton, Georgia would be a good place to target for the establishment of a campground because it is located in the expansive footprint of the fairly popular Chattahoochee National Forest and the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Georgia.

In the immediate vicinity of the city of Clayton, Georgia is Black Rock Mountain State Park.

Greater Rabun County (of which the city of Clayton is home to the seat of government in Rabun County) in general seems to be a good place to target because of the heavily forested and mountainous nature of the area, and because of all of the outdoor recreation and wilderness areas in the county.

The area gets lots of tourists during the spring, summer and fall months. Though I am not sure that a campground might be financially sustainable during the winter months when the number of tourists coming through the area seems to drop dramatically in number.

I used to think that too B2R, until we moved up here to the mountains. We're still inundated. We can't get away from the tourists no matter how hard we try. LOLOL

To answer the OP's question however; as someone who full-time RV'd for over seven years including spending several winter's in the RV in the North and midwest.... Winter camping isn't for the weak and a lot of special consideration will need to be taken into consideration when designing and setting up the campground. We were down to 20 below in our RV once, so talk to some experienced cold weather RVer's!

Well, yeah, that makes sense as a lot of people like to drive up there to the mountains from places like Florida to experience at least a sample of some real winter weather, especially during the holidays.

Though, after the holidays and during the months of January and February could be a different story.
