Douglas County officials have taken the next steps to launch the county’s first fixed-route local bus service.

The Board of Commissioners last week established fares for the service, which will begin sometime this spring. The cost of a one-way fare will be $2.50, or $1 for students, the disabled and those 60 and older..."

That's fine in theory. However, Douglas County just elected its first black chairperson in 2016. They are going to take baby steps as they still have a significant conservative contingent in their county. They literally had to fight that faction just get this local bus route to this point.

It will be soon, in a sense. They can set up a transit expansion tax through the ATL, and have MARTA as their operator.


Particularly if they push for a commuter rail line through the county, which I think they should do, even if they have to go through Cobb to make it happen.
