Hi,

I've been living in Atlanta for more than a day and am looking to relocate (again). I don't want a condo, townhome, or apartment because I have pets and already had bad experiences with poor HOAs and nasty/rowdy neighbors.

I'm not rich. Being a single gal, I'm pretty much looking to spend less than $200K for a new place.

What/were do you recommend I live in? Don't wanna do southside Atlanta (Clayton, Henry counties) due to the traffic and distance from Midtown. Gwinett county doesn't give me the warm n' fuzzies, and both I-20 east and west doesn't look safe to me.

I appreciate your advice,

In this market, you might be able to get a small home, maybe a fixer-upper, in Candler Park or Scott Blvd area of Decatur for under 200K. Avondale Estates may be a poss., too.

I can't see finding a SFH for that price in those areas for that price.

I live at the Ashford Apartments in ... well... I don't really have a name for the area, but its about a mile south of perimeter mall. There are some townhomes for rent her, and I know you're looking to buy, but holy cow, do I love this place. It is soooo quiet. No parties, lots of families, really nice apartments for around 1k per month.

I don't know. Housing can be expensive around here if you want a hop-skip-jump to midtown.

My friend has a house off of chamblee tucker near doraville that is in a nice neighborhood otherwise. And what about Brookhaven? Are there any inexpensive homes there?

Check out...

1. Tucker
2. Smyrna
3. Mableton
4. Chamblee
5. Doraville
6. McLendon Road/Valley Brook Road Area of DeKalb County
7. Scottdale
8. East Point
9. College Park
10. Clarkston

*all of the aforementioned areas are close-in, better for singles...and close to your job. Great prices. Single-family (or single-female!)homes.

Good Luck.
