Thanks so much for all your help!
I will be working near GA Tech, West Marietta St NW,
do you know what bus from 5 points I should take.

I am also curious about why Decatur is the best option... does MARTA run into Decatur?

What pasrt of Decatur would you recommend? are all elementary schools good in Decatur? how about Highschools?

thanks again!

MARTA runs right through Decatur...not sure about the buses, but here is the MARTA website that gives you the routes.

MARTA - Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority

The #2 bus runs from Decatur to North Avenue station right by Tech.
If you're within the city limits of Decatur, all the schools are good.

West Marietta St and Marietta St are two different streets.

The #1 bus does not go down West Marietta St. Depending on where on West Marietta you are going that is not really a part of town I want to be waiting on MARTA in.

The area of 887 West Marietta St shouldn't be too bad, but it continues and goes past the county jail and into Bankhead which is one of the worst neighborhoods in Atlanta.

I don't think MARTA is a good choice for you since there is only one bus and it only runs hourly. It is the #52 bus which you would pick up from Vine City station on the East-West line. Here is the schedule:

Route 52 Weekday Schedule -MARTA (http://www.itsmarta.com/getthere/schedules/tables/rte_52_W.htm - broken link)

As for Decatur, there is only zip code you need to know: 30030. If it says it's Decatur and it isn't that zip code, run. The City of Decatur has excellent schools, easy transit and a great little downtown. Otherwise, Decatur really means unincorporated DeKalb county which uses different, worse, county schools and includes a lot of seedy areas.

Not exactly true...having lived in 30033 (North Decatur), I can tell you that you're just fine walking, not running, in those neighborhoods.
