Yeah, Florida is perfect and efficient, just like Japan.

If comparing the the Florida Toll Roads then yes, but GDOT is technically building a half tolled half untolled highway where as Florida just makes them toll roads. But yes. Florida toll roads are awesome. Texas Toll roads are pretty nice .

GDOT is way overdoing it with the excessive ramps and overpasses and bridges ... it looks horrific. Something like they did on Loop 1 in Austin would have looked so much cleaner.

It's a hybrid, right?

The whole project looks like an afterthought.

You are right, FL just turns it into a toll road and goes from there.

The BRT is definitely an afterthought. If Fulton County votes down its 0.2% T-SPLOST, kiss it goodbye.

Yeah, it's better if it's just one or the other (free way or toll road), not a mix of both with separate lanes. Florida's Turnpike is nice, reminds me of a typical expressway in Japan with it's limited access points, toll plazas at the entrances and exits, and toll plaza facilities along the way with shops and restaurants. I believe Florida has some private sector owned toll roads. I know the Brightline train for sure is. In Japan both expressways and trains are owned by the private sector, and I wish it was like that here. This topic is a perfect example of what happens with our tax dollars in the hands of government.

That is not politically feasible in Georgia because people are "muh free roads."

Fixed that for you....

Transit wise, this BRT seems to be a disaster already.
No stop at Northridge Rd
No stop at Mansell Connecting to the Mansell Park and Ride
No stop at Old Milton at the Avalon and putting it almost 1/2 mile south of it with almost zero access to anything from there.

There should be stops by the major interchanges, where the employment centers could run office shuttles to these stops, just like many offices run a shuttle to the Perimeter Center MARTA stations. That will encourage people to ride, if they knew they could still get to their office from a BRT without having to rely on a local MARTA Bus once they get there. Anyone that has been to North Springs know how cold it is is there in the winter waiting for a bus with all the cars whipping by on the express way or waiting for the train on that elevated platform.

This whole project just seems to be for people that will never take transit and will just pay to use these lanes.
