Hello All,
My husband just accepted an position in Milledgeville, and thats great but the problem is that I do not want to reside in the Macon area. We have an 8 year old daughter so public/or private schools are an important factor to us. I don't want to be in an rural rural area, want neighbors close but not arms length like here in TX (the houses are so close together here).
But my questions are:
what area between Atlanta and Milledgeville do you think is good, family oriented, safe, not to congested, and has a great schools? We were looking in the PTC area, but the commute was too long of a drive. I will not work at this point, staying home with our daughter to help her adjust to the new area. We will move this summer after school is out here in Texas, but he's already there and we are renting an apartment in the North Macon area, been there to look around and its just not my preference on where I want to buy property. But any advice is appreciated, and thanks so much for any comments.

This thread should really be on the Georgia board. But I think you should really give the Macon area a shot. Although it's not my personal preference (I'm a single 30 y.o. male), the suburbs around Macon have been growing fast and the schools out in the burbs are pretty decent. If you get too tired of Macon, you can always go to Atlanta (80 miles north) or Savannah and the coast (160 miles east) for the weekend.
