I was wondering if Atlanta, downtown, has someplace similar to Devon Street in Chicago, where there is a cluster of many Indian restaurants(really good authentic ones) and grocery stores.

Thanks.

The general area around North Dekalb mall is where you'll find a lot of Indian restaurants and shops.

The closest thing to that here would likely be the intersection of Church St, DeKalb Industrial Blvd and Scott Boulevard.
You can read about the Indian community in Decatur in this article:

Thank you, and if anyone has any recommendations for the groceries and restaurants, I would love to hear it!

I guess I was hoping for something along the lines of what there is in chicago, new york, toronto... a "little india". Is that Decatur?

Oh, one more question.... about how far is N Decatur from the downtown area? We had also wanted to do some "touristy" things.

From downtown Atlanta it's about 7 or 8 miles. You'd need a car. Busses run in that area, but it is not pedestrian friendly and is VERY dangerous to cross any of the streets in that area on foot.

Decatur is six miles from downtown and on the MARTA line (E6 on the East Line)
Unfortunately, the Indian community that we're referring to is not a walking area by any means.
I believe Zyka, Madras Saravana Bhavan, and Udipi Cafe are all good restaurants in that area.
Google 'Indian Restaurants Atlanta' and you'll see what else we have to offer.

Here's a few via "Yelp" that are in the same general area of town, with patron ratings: Indian restaurant Atlanta | Yelp

Now, lots of people rave about Vatica which is in the NW suburb of Smyrna. I haven't eaten there myself, but people I know who have loved it. Here is the link to the Yelp reviews on it: Vatica Indian Vegetarian Cuisine - Marietta, GA 30067
