Hello JPD, here are the directions from the realtor website:

"Browning Chase Subdiv off Idlewood between L'ville Hwy (29) and Stn Mtn Freeway (78). Turn into Subdiv then bear to left and turn into 1st cul-de-sac on left."

So I guess it's off Lawrenceville Highway. That gave my husband some concern as the surrounding area isn't so nice, but as long as it doesn't impact crime I'm not particularly worried.

I know Livsey is a great school, but I've heard good things about Brockett as well. There is one house in Lake Ivanhoe that we can afford, so we'll definitely be looking at it as well.

I'm making a list for our realtor right now, because I want to go out looking on Wednesday.

Ok, I know where that is. The neighborhoods over there are nice. There are some old apartment complexes on Idlewood near Tucker Middle School that are not attractive, but to my knowledge they do not create problems for the
neighborhoods.

I expect the entire "downtown" part of Tucker to see major improvements in the next few years. The high school and library are both about to be replaced with new facilities, and the "Tucker Overlay" has been approved which will allow revitalization/redevelopment to begin. I think this will wipe out most, if not all, of the "not so nice" parts of Tucker.

Boy, Roslyn, it sounds like you're really under the gun right now...I know the feeling.
I was going to suggest that you ask your realtor about the Wembley Forest subdivision (off Chamblee-Tucker Rd on the northern edge of Tucker). It's a really pretty, well-kept neighborhood with prices comparable to the Brockett Rd area. It's in the Evansdale elementary school district (a plus), and is also in the Henderson Middle and Lakeside High district (IMO a better option than Tucker Middle and High).
Just my two cents...I wish you luck in your upcoming move.
