A 1 bedroom condo within convenient walking distance of a grocery (Plaza Midtown) and Marta station is probably your best bet. I'd still keep a car though! An older car will be cheap to insure and you can just keep it parked most days.

MARTA does not run trains like NYC MTA 24/7.


If you don’t want or need to buy a car there is always Uber if you need a ride when MARTA is not running.

You will really love ATL.

OP clearly said they didn’t care about schools so they can use Zillow and find cheap SFH all around south Dekalb and all over west side ITP that are in their 300k ranges and on a Marta rail/bus.

They can get a very nice new or newish build too. It may be a bit more than 30 minutes via Marta but definitely doable.
