Safe and near the city. Is there any other neighborhood that are near the city and that are both safe and with good schools?... what would you say is another good area for a family. I know of Cumming and Kennesaw but I am under the impression that with the commute to get to my work in center city I will waste many days of my life. 50 min commute is fine but an hour and a half to 2 hours each way is just is too much.

thanks

what do you say

Safe and nearer the city? Absolutely. But know that you'll pay a premium for that better location. What are your requirements for a house?

30030 is the City of Decatur while 30033 is a Decatur address but not in the City of Decatur. Both are also in DeKalb County - confused yet?

Here are some City of Decatur websites for you to check out and research further:

City of Decatur's official website: City of Decatur, GA

City of Decatur's school website: City Schools of Decatur

Map of the school zones in the City of Decatur: City Schools of Decatur

Website for school ratings: GreatSchools.net

Eri,

To be honest with you - I don't keep up with the rental market. Check out craigslist classifieds: jobs, housing, personals, for sale, services, community, events, forums or Atlanta News, Sports, Atlanta Weather, Business News | ajc.com to see what is available on the market for rent. Renting will also give you an opportunity to see if you like the area too.

I'm not sure if you want a 1 bedroom or 2, but I currently live in a 2bd/2bth apartment in 30030 for $1050, so it is definitely doable. Some of my friends live in 1bd/1bth in 30030 as well for around $900 a month. Of course, this doesn't include any utilities, but it should give you an idea. Hope this helps!
