they believed that its capacity was limited to about 12,000 people per peak hour per direction (PPHPD)
– which was Curitiba’s capacity at the time. While this capacity is rarely needed in the US (where 12,000
people is more typical of the total daily ridership),...
Seems to me 12,000 people PER HOUR in each direction is way more than enough capacity. Assuming the route goes both ways, that's a total of 24,000 passengers an hour.

The Airport Station, for example -- second busiest station in the MARTA system -- only gets 11,000 passengers in an entire day. Midtown gets 5,500 per day.

In the unlikely event that it someday turns out that the BRT system can't meet capacity, then it will be time to look at a higher capacity system.

BRT is not ideal in terms of capacity, but it's better than nothing. It's better than cars. Which have 4 seats.

Idealistically yes, but realistically I'm kind of doubting it will see any valuable ridership.

We don't have any MARTA heavy real line that carries 12,000 people an hour. BRT should be fine for the foreseeable future.

If we outgrow it some day -- and that would almost certainly be decades into the future -- then we can look at higher capacity options at that time. The good thing is that we would already have ridership patterns and more TOD, as well as right of way.

You mean the right of way that is about to become occupied by the express toll lanes?

Yep, either that or whatever ROW they're planning on using for the new BRT line. If we can squeeze transit onto the Beltline we ought easily be able to fit it into the massive 285 ROW.

That massive ROW is filled, side-side, with traffic clogged lanes carrying 1 person in a vehicle and commerce via tractor-trailers.

Where? Be specific and tell us how GADOT wouldn't further widen the 285 corridor without taking even more private property.

Hey, I'm not the engineer! But it's hard for me to believe this isn't doable. If it's impossible, why are all these people beating their gums about it?

Georgia being cheap with transit again to avoid real solutions. 285 need light rail at minimum.
