Nothing's etched in stone, but it appears some private equity firms are pushing hard to take over the company in its entirety.

That is definitely could be another loss. Global Payment and TSYS also have a decent chance of being taken over after the First Data and Wolrd Pay deals. This really shows that bigger firms are definitely starting to pluck off the smaller ones. These past couple of months have been rough for ATL headquarters pride. We lost popeye's, First Data, Arris, and Suntrust.

Don't forget what's left of Turner/CNN being shifted to LA/NYC.

NCR is heading towards bankruptcy anyway. Moving intown was a last ditch effort to reinvent themselves. On the bright side they have an awesome building that another company will move into.

Do you think the city got its money's worth luring NCR to midtown?

If the company goes belly up, does the city get stiffed on the remainder of the bond?

Quote:
Midtown took a major step Thursday in its evolution into a hub of high tech business when Atlanta’s development arm approved the issuance of up to $314 million in bonds to help fund the construction and equipping of the future global headquarters of NCR Corp.

First Data/Fiserv still has to close, and Fiserv has a large campus in Alpharetta. I can only imagine that it will take some time to consolidate offices too.

I never understood why NCR would build where they did unless they wanted to take advantage of younger/cheaper labor - who also show little loyalty to a firm. If they were in North Fulton you could attract workers with families who could afford to buy a home in Fulton, Forsyth or Cherokee.

The bolded is exactly it.

That's why a lot of companies across the country are moving from the suburbs to the urban core.

I'd be surprised if the folks who can afford the price of intown rent and housing prices are "cheaper labor."
