Hi All,

I'm planning to move to Georgia and plan to work near to Dunwoody. I'm muslim and my wife wears hijab and daughter as well. I'm looking for good place where we have reasonable housing rent for family of 4 which can range from 1250 to 1400 USD and mostly nearer to Mosque.
Also my daughter would be going to 4th grade in this Sept 2019 and my son would be going to preschool in same time.
So I browsed through and found that Alpharetta GA is good enough for muslim community, so I'm just confused with what would be best to decide on eitehr Alpharetta GA or Dunwoody GA .

I'm okie to travel to office with 30 minutes of distance through car, but my needs of muslim community/reasonable rent/schoolings for my kids and mainly safety/security for us as family is important.

Your suggestion will be really helpful to plan my things. please suggest. Any place meeting my needs and nearer to office will be helpful.

Regards,
Firoz N

I think for the case of diversity Alpharetta would be better but for the sake of commuting you will really wish you lived in Dunwoody. In less than 2 years from now, they intend to do a major overhaul to GA-400 ... the only feasible route from Alpharetta to Dunwoody, or outside of Alpharetta in general.

I personally would choose Dunwoody, there is no value that can be placed on living close to where you work.

@Need4Camaro.
Appreciate your response on it. I am also thinking of Dunwoody now considering the commute time is challenging from Alpharetta. The only challenge I am facing is the no of good elementary schools in Dunwoody is less when compared to Alpharetta.

Considering it would be Dunwoody any help on good schools and best choice of apartments will be helpful.

Nalbandf, I just made the commute from Alpharetta (exit 10) to Dunwoody (exit 5) this morning for an appointment. The appointment was at 9AM. I left the house at 7:45AM and was 15 minutes late. It took me 90 minutes due to the clearing of two accidents.

In the past when I have made a similar commute (exit 10 to the MARTA station just past exit 6) it has taken 45-60 minutes in morning rush hour.

Live in Dunwoody, Brookhaven, Doraville, Chamblee or Sandy Springs. Only consider moving farther out if your place of work is convenient to a MARTA train stop.

Just curious - did you use Waze or just take your regular route? It took me around 45 minutes to get from Milton to Dunwoody the other day but I was routed everywhere but 400.
