This is not an accurate perception of Peachtree City.

Compared to Alpharetta, it's very accurate. Its in South Atlanta. There's not even half as many jobs or activities compared to N.Fulton down there. Outside of PTC, HJI, and the filming scene - that's pretty much it. Downtown Alpharetta alone has more to do than PTC as a whole, unless you enjoy golf

Yeah, I retirement because I would never consider it as a place to live while working at any of the major job hubs in the metro and it's too expensive for the working class to live in.

Fayette County has the oldest population in all of Metro Atlanta and it's the slowest growing county. So the perception that PTC is a big retirement community is not unfounded. It's the type of place you go if you're settled down and unambitious.

Same goes for it mostly being centered around film. What other industries are there in Fayette County, besides working for Delta?

Some of you have a strange definition of retirement community. Even in just the few weeks I spent there house hunting, nothing about it screamed retirement outside of the Cresswind adult community. Established family yes, retirement....? Families and kids all over the place. Compare the age demographics of the two cities being discussed and you won't see much difference.

Retirement doesnt necessarily mean elderly, it just means non dependent on employment.

It is when comparing to Alpharetta. There are 4x as many jobs in N.Fulton as there are in S.Fulton / Fayette, ect. There is no immediate highway in PTC where as Alpharetta is served by GA-400 and bus services. Top that off with the county as a whole being far more developed and a plethora more places to go and do, it's really no contest. You go to PTC if you do not need to commute and are content with local activities.

It's like moving to Santa Barbara California and commuting to Los Angeles. It's just not what its designed for. I'm sure there are people who work and commute in PTC, but nowhere near on the scale of N.Fulton.
