Hopefully soon. That place is so bad. I'm embarrassed when people recommend it to out of town foodies.

Could a tower fit where insurrection is located?

Probably. I wonder when those blocks across the street where the Post Office and those other small buildings are will go. The entire Street from North Ave to 17th is about to blow up where it already hasn't.

True, and the funeral home across from where Checkers was located had mentioned they were staying, but money talks.

On this list, like Atlanta districts outside of Downtown are seeing the most growth. In NYC those are all in Midtown Manhattan, Queens, or Brooklyn. The one for Boston isn't even Boston proper. I most cases the cheaper land is outside of "downtown", but at this point I can't imagine Midtown Atlanta land being cheaper than Downtown Atlanta.

On the other hand, there of really old infrastructure and other considerations that make building more difficult in Downtown Atlanta I would imagine. I would think trying to build something over the viaducts for instance quickly spirals in to an expensive affair. I think for the next 20 years though Downtown is due a boom. There are already signs of it.

And now I know what's behind the name of the grocery chain, I frankly had no idea.
Trivia.... my step dad was a classmate and good friend of his son Charles while at Baylor in the post WWII years

I see what you did there. They could certainly erect one.

And sorry, the loss of the Varsity would be a travesty. The bad food is awesome!

I agree with all of this!

With Newports involvement in South Downtown and CIM already repurposing the old Norfolk Southern HQ's into residential space before they even start on the Gulch, I think amazing things are unfolding. The wild card is Underground. It's such a vital piece of the puzzle, but I think the current developers are in way over their head.

The old Funeral Home itself is landmarked and protected, but I think you're right. I think there was something in Curbed a while back about them shopping the property.
