We will be travelling south on I-75 and hope to get through Atlanta before stopping for the night. Hoping for any suggestions of a decent place to sleep for the night without it turning into a no-tell/motel. Thanks

If you're staying at any motel just off the interstate, make sure it's one that has rooms that are accessed by an interior hallway. A couple of friends of mine learned that lesson the hard way.
Personally, I wouldn't pull over in Henry County until I was past the McDonough exits (Exit 212)

I would try Locust Grove near the outlet mall or go on to Forsyth, GA. Holiday Inn Express Locust Grove is new and very nice ~$80/night.

I'd just play it safe and stay north of the city.

You can also stay intown. Atlanta hotels are heavily geared to business travelers, so they are often dirt cheap on the weekends. Offer a price under $100 on Priceline for a 4 start hotel in midtown or Buckhead. If it's a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday night, I bet you'll be quite surprised and happy with what you get.

If you do want to stay in that area, Is look for a higher end motel, like a Hyatt House, Hilton Garden Inn, or one of the newer Holiday Inns. Sorry, I don't know if these are on I-75 south of town, but I've got to think there is at least something halfway decent down there. Just use common sense and definitely avoid anything with exterior corridors. Don't leave valuable luggage in the car overnight.

This is exactly what I would do.

Morrow has many hotels that would fit that bill with plenty of budget friendly restaurants in that area. That would put you coming off 75 south at the Morrow/ Jonesboro Exit.
