Anyone know anything about the neighborhood of St. Ives in Johns Creek. It was not recommended to us because we were told that it wasn't family oriented and we are Jewish and that there aren't many Jewish people there.

We like the house and it has a great yard. We need to find a home soon and time is running out. We close on our home here in NC end of May.

We put an offer in on a home in Windward and lost it due to a bidding war. The only other home we've liked so far is just too small and we don't think we can make it work space wise but we are told that it is a better neighborhood for us.

We like the St. Ives home and are getting nervous that maybe this isn't the neighborhood for us like we've been told. We are also getting nervous that come May we might not have a home to live in.

Contact the homeowner's association and ask them if there are any residents willing to talk to you about the neighborhood. Or just knock on doors while you're visiting the house. I found this helpful in my home search.

Funny you should mention that as I am waiting for a call back from the HOA. Unfortunately since St. Ives is gated, I can never get past the gates unless I'm with the Realtor and when we are there, we are always pressed for time.

Maybe you can find a synagogue in the area and talk to someone there? Tell your realtor about your concerns and that you want to go talk to some neighbors in the subdivision and have them help make that happen.

Depending on where you work,in that price range I would also look in Magnolia Walk or Wildwood in Suwanee. It may not be as prestigious an address but the roads and freeway access are much better than only being able to go on the 141.

You don't say if you're Conservative or Reform (or Reconstructionist or anything else -- assume you're not Orthodox looking at someplace not even close to walking distance to a shul), but I'd check a couple of places for feedback:

what is your price range - are you set on that area? Do you prefer a gated neighborhood?

Thanks for the reply but we put an offer in on another property in the area. We had the inspection on Friday and are well on our way. Can't wait to move in and get settled. Hopefully Atl will be kinder to us than the incident at the hotel when our cash was stolen when we stayed there after the inspection. Trying to move on and look forward to happier times. Wish us luck.

Good luck and sorry about your misfortune! We moved here a year ago and love it! Hopefully it will be the same for you and your family!
