You should probably check out the City of Decatur. There are many lesbians that reside there and they also have a good school system. I don't know what the status would be for Section 8 Housing - but you never know.

City of Decatur, GA
City Schools of Decatur

Here is a photo of the Digging Dykes of Decatur in the Inman Park Parade. I believe that they are a social organization - don't know for sure if they are a garden club: Atlanta Pride Festival Photo 2003 Album (http://atlanta.about.com/library/bl03gaypride15.htm - broken link)

A good alternative for a single gay parent would be North Druid Hills...I know there are apartments in that area that will accept Section 8 vouchers if one can't be found in Decatur city. NDH would fit your criteria about as well as Decatur.
And the DDOD do in fact garden.

Default Need Help

I have a 2BR/1.5BA condo in Midtown. Half of the residents in my community are gay. How much is your Section 8 voucher? When do you plan to move?

Arays, I believe there is a process that you can go through to qualify your units for Section 8; also, you should check with your homeowners association to see if they cap the number of units in your complex that can be put out for rental.

Midtown is the area due north of downtown...it's about as centrally located as it gets in Atlanta.

Yes, I think you'd be very comfortable in Midtown...it's very cosmopolitan.
