Last night, College Park unanimously approved the 420-acre project and will hold a meeting on 8/19/19 to vote on a resolution stating this is the master framework in order to move forward.

They will now proceed with filing a Development of Regional Impact (DRI) application with the State of Georgia.

The final stamp of approval was made by the city council at the 8/19/19 meeting, signalling to developers that College Park is fully committed to moving this project forward.

I’m surprised at how little attraction this is getting on this thread, especially with it being ITP. Even other threads regarding this topic were seldomly posted in.

1. It's south of I-20.

Aside from myself, a couple folks in PTC and one semi-regular poster in Clayton County, everyone on this forum lives north of I-20 and frankly don't care.

2. It's a sprawly/suburban development, which in today's socio-economic environment it's automatically dismissed as *BAD* by urbanists (although it's no different than how Culmberland and Perimeter Center were developed).

Cumberland and Perimeter were NOT developed in this manner.

It was much more private market taking the reigns and less the government selling the land back to developers.

Exactly. It's also pretty outrageous and inflammatory to state that because the majority of this forum and the Metro live North of I-20 thet just "don't care" about the Southside. I for one want the entire area to do well, as does everyone I know.

I've already replied to you about this in prior posts. The second line of the post you just replied to directly states it, whether you choose to to ignore it or not.

The city is trying to own the property, play master developer themselves and sell off parcels one at a time and then they proceed to get into disputes with their originally chosen developer to work with and select another.

Cumberland and Perimeter was not developed using any of these methods at all.

Well many don’t and you can tell by looking at the difference in the number of comments for south side threads vs north side ones.
