I thought that was true, as well. Turns out, Davison sold to Macy in the 1920s, but kept operating under its own name.

Yes Davison’s was essentially the Southern division of Macy’s for more than 60 years until the name was finally changed. It’s even referenced in the original “Miracle on 34th Street” when Mr. Macy orders Santas at the Atlanta store to employ the same feel-good customer relations as Kris in the NYC store.

I about teared up reading through this thread. My mom used to take me to Lenox when I was a small child. She'd shop at Davison's and if I was good (not cranky, whiny etc) she would take me to Dipper Dan's for ice cream afterward.



Memories.



It was really sad to me when they enclosed it.
