Regardless it’s still the most populous area.

The world's busiest airports 2018
1. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (Georgia, US) -- 107.4 million passengers
2. Beijing Capital International Airport (China) -- 101 million
3. Dubai International Airport (United Arab Emirates) -- 89.1 million
4. Los Angeles International Airport (California, US) -- 87.5 million
5. Tokyo's Haneda Airport (Japan) -- 86.9 million
6. Chicago's O'Hare International Airport (Illinois, US) -- 83.2 million
7. London's Heathrow Airport (United Kingdom) -- 80.1 million
8. Hong Kong International Airport (China) -- 74.5 million
9. Shanghai Pudong International Airport (China) -- 74 million
10. Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (France) -- 72.2 million

Amazing to see O'Hare, for years, THE busiest but now sliding down the rankings. I think D/FW will enter the top ten within the next two to three years due to American Airlines expansion. If not for Dallas Love Field, it would already be top 5.

The post that I responded to said "southeast", not south. To me the SE is Virginia to Florida and east of the Mississippi River.

The "south" is not more populated than the "north" if you're comparing apples to apples. Not even close.

Being in a growth area and a nice jump off point to Europe and the only airport in the city. but its not all that close to Latin America. American is the dominant carrier to Latin America from D/FW and especially, Miami.

In addition, many people in Texas have no need to fly through Atlanta when you are home to American and Southwest Airlines and have the second biggest hub for United in Houston. So that alone discounts the argument for population size.

But we still know the FAA counts "busiest by aircraft movements" (take-offs and landings) There Chicago's O'Hare recaptured the title. Reason why the thread title says (passenger Traffic).

But plenty of other threads in the form could have been reopened too. Every there is others. But being in the Northeast .... I refuse to fly way south to Atlanta. To go due west or even southwest points in the Nation. Why double or more my flight time.
