If it seems like I need to take care of personal business he encourages me to take care of that over coming to work. When I leave town for personal reasons and working remotely he asks me how my trips were and what I did, ect. I am going to really miss this job lol. This is how I'm able to commute from Austin to Atlanta and back for other business reasons so often and easily even during week days as I'm not tied down like a typical 9x5 employee. And I ensure to make sure everything i need to do is done by the time it needs to be as not to abuse the privilege.

I'm moving to Leander TX (suburb of Austin, I live in Austin city proper right now). Its kind of like a residential Alpharetta without the jobs and without the shopping (Avalon/Downtown Alpharetta). My commute would be aprox 30 mins without traffic. With traffic about 45 mins because I dont work close to downtown Austin. So yeah I have the ability (even now) to stay at home... But there are times I need to come in for physical hands on work like installing a new server or connecting jumpers between our Switches and servers so I do have some onsite responsibilities. Just not very often.
That's awesome! What's Round Rock like nowadays? My dad lived there prior to coming to NC and spoke very highly of it.

Round Rock is awesome with the only issue being that its off I-35, the most congested highway in Austin. Round Rock was rated the #2 city in America (taking Austin's place) this year. Basically because it has tech jobs, high average income, and a active downtown. I liked it. They're also building a mix-used development similar to Austin's domain there (kinda like Avalon). Its growing though. It feels more urban than Leander and you don't get as much square footage for the same prices. They say its cheap but its really only cheap compared to the more expensive metro's in this country. It's about on par with Alpharetta as far as prices go.

Facebook moving into new office space in Atlantic Station

Quote:
Facebook Inc. has signed a lease for the top floor of a new 7-story timber office building at Midtown’s Atlantic Station development.

Facebook (Nasdaq: FB) will occupy 35,900 square feet at T3 West Midtown, an $80 million mid-rise made of wood, the first heavy-timber office building in the Southeast. Global real estate company Hines, whose projects have filled the Atlanta skyline for years, is the developer.

I still don't think most people understand how significant this is.

Two of the biggest tech companies in the world are leasing around 1 million sqft of office space in Midtown Atlanta, starting 2021.

He already narrowed it down to Tulsa or Austin, and quite frankly I'd rather him stay in California. While he had prior plans of relocating his Cyber Truck facility to TX, he got fed up with the stay at home orders and that California wouldn't allow him to open his plant. He reopened the manufacturing facility against California's stay at home orders and did so without presenting a plan to California's order to provide them with a risk mitigation analysis as to how he intends to protect employees from the disease then dared California to arrest him. Just another insensitive corporate center focused on the dollar rather than the concern for human health.

He was initially thought to be throwing a tantrum, this is far from the first time he's threatened to relocate in order to get Californian to bend for him, but he may go through with it.

That’s the factory. The relocation of the Tesla HQ is the bigger piece of the pie. With Microsoft focussing on AI with the new Atlanta office, I wonder how that could swing his decision. It’s easier to poach top talent in the same city (and let’s not forget about Google).
