However, if the situation is what I wrote in my previous post...:

"Courts in Georgia have held that when a landlord fails to respond to repair requests after a reasonable time, tenants can hire a competent repair person to perform the needed repairs. The cost must be reasonable, and the tenant may deduct the cost from the rent. It's a good idea to put your request in writing, keep all receipts and invoices, hire licensed workers if possible, and perform only needed repairs, not upgrades."

It ultimately depends on the terms of your lease.

As the link states, there's no statue that allows for rent withholding. At least in my experience, every lease I've signed since being in Georgia explicitly forbid the withholding of rent despite a landlord's failure to perform a repair.

And yes, I mean proceed to file a lawsuit against you in the magistrate court to order that you be forcibly removed. All they have to do is give you notice before doing so (there's no time limit).

Citidata18, that's one of the many reasons I agreed with that post you made in another thread. I am focusing on my location and how to make changes (in life)...it will be slow for me but I am trying. I'm really over it at this point. I'm not just tired of the laws/way of life here but the people who support it, but I'm not going to waste my energy on that. I'm definitely focusing on myself.
