Under those circumstances, isn't there a raison d'etre pour le Krystal?
Mais, oui! I recall grease fix runs from my youngster days. However, now I think that if you need a grease fix after a night of partying, you probably should just go home and go to bed instead! Big Mama always told us that nothing good happens after midnight. Pretty wise lady!

Wise counsel indeed.

However, it's easier to make it home by midnight if you've got a sackful sitting there beside you.

Love Krystal.

My grandmama worked at and managed one in Columbus during my pre-adolescent childhood.

One of the things that was cited in the bankruptcy filing, according to the first paragraph of the article in Atlanta Business Chronicle, was 'unfavorable lease terms'. I'm not in-the-know on such matters, and I can't read article behind the firewall; anybody know what 'unfavorable lease terms' might mean? Did they get priced out of non-stand-alone locations?

I prefer White Castle over Krystal and only ate at Krystal at best 4 times out of the decades I've spent in ATL. But honestly... both are comparable to food poisoning in terms of health :P

I'm not really surprised to see them go. The new millennial trend seems to be healthier food on the go.

I'm wondering if 'unfavorable lease terms' is just an excuse. The Krystal's I see are usually located at more inexpensive locations. They aren't located in areas you would find most Popeye's but still. I think it's a mixture of healthier eating, their product/not marketing their brand well, and very high employee turnover.

When I made that comment, I was thinking of before their "new" chicken sandwich came out. You have to drive so far for their food. They've been stagnant like that for many years (not opening up new locations at least in the Metro Atlanta area); I always notice they are located in poorer areas. I used to joke that you have to travel to the hood to get some Popeye's. If Popeye's can make it, then Krystal should be able too. If not, maybe it's time to experience some White Castle.

I live a mile from the Popeye's at the corner of Briarcliff & Clairmont. I can assure you this isn't the hood.
