That's my 'hood...I love it here...peaceful, friendly, safe, and funky...expensive? I'd say $350M-$600M.

I think Great Lakes is the area just east of that neighborhood - across Clairemont. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. The area you reference is a wonderful neighborhood though - very close to downtown so you can walk to all the festivities easily. I'd live there in a minute!

Our sign-toppers say 'Clairemont-Great Lakes'...but cmtiger is right, Great Lakes is really on the other side of Clairemont Ave.

Well, I consider Decatur to be one of the safest areas in Atlanta. Given that, I would still recommend either an alarm system or a big dog b/c it is Atlanta metro after all.

I wouldn't live anywhere these days without an alarm.

... or the big dog mentioned by cmtiger. I have a German Shepherd mix who's a sweet family pet, but her guard dog genes come to the fore when anyone approaches the house. We really don't need an alarm when we have Daisy showing her teeth and announcing she'll do damage to intruders, and you can hear her all over the block. (Fortunately for our neighbors, she's smart and selective about when to bark, so they don't hear her often).
