How bad is crime in Atlanta for those who live in Midtown and points northward?

There is an industrial area immediately to the NW of Midtown and SE of Vinings / Paces (Inman Yards, Underwood Hills, Bolton, etc.) that can get kind of sketchy.

But for the most part, I'm pretty certain the areas north and NE of Midtown are the safest in the city.

I don't live in Midtown, but as someone who goes there often, it seems rather safe for an urban district.

As for points north, how far are you referring? Either way, in general Metro Atlanta is very safe from Midtown all the way up to Cumming.

I agree about that part of Atlanta being relatively safe.

When the roads were designed in North Atlanta, the roads were not built in straight arrows going north and south. The Chattahoochee River snakes through north Atlanta, and the roads had to be built with rivers and valleys in mind.

Many of the roads go in loops. And other than Roswell Road, there's not many ways to get up there without knowing where you're going. Criminals prefer easier places to troll for items to steal and places to burglar.

Define “crime”. There is usually a trade-off in types of crime depending on where you live.

I agree. Some people have different tolerances than others. I care much less about vehicle break-ins than crimes against my personal safety. Also walking down a street at night is different than being safely in your locked home at night.

I live in Midtown. I leave my car unlocked. There are a couple of easy going homeless people that keep to themselves.

In general, Midtown is pretty safe.

I'd say that midtown, north to 285, that is west of 75, can be extremely sketchy.

Is that area even Midtown?
