I see nothing wrong with it. Do what makes you feel comfortable.

Neighbors and I have called 911 on numerous occasions. Response times are slow, and APD has instituted a no-chase policy. To add insult to injury, when someone is arrested, they're usually released on a signature bond and ultimately given a slap on the wrist by the Fulton County courts, even as a repeat offender.
The latter has been going on for a while. I remember seeing an AJC article on it 2 or 3 years ago. A handful of people were committing an enormous number of crimes. But they kept getting released before trial.

Yeah, Fulton County has had a verifiable pattern of this 'catch and release' policy for years now. Maybe things will get better with Paul Howard gone.

I do think we'll see riots if trump wins, and I do see the unrest in urban areas as a turnoff for many including myself.

Somewhat related, we have a number of friends that hosted family members from the NYC for several weeks at a time when covid and covid Mania got bad up there. So it wouldn't shock me if people skipped town for a bit, or rented a cabin the mountains. With virtual work and learning still going on, I think many families could make that work.

But then you have to ask yourself, if you are scared of your own neighborhood, should you really be living there long term?

I also have a bad feeling, not just that Trump will be re-elected as it's looking more likely as the election approaches and electoral votes will probably be similar to 2016 plus or minus a few states, but also about the rioting as a result. Then Trump will exercise powers with the likes which were unseen during his first term. I'm talking total dictatorship.

Sigh. This whole thread. If Trump gets re-elected, the whole country is going to suffer & not because of any rioters. If there isn’t anybody at the top to set a good example anymore, you’ll continue to see people on both sides of the aisle acting like he does— saying “screw it”.

We have a societal contract that keeps things going in America, but people are becoming so detached from the realities we face that people are starting to believe they can just treat each other like crap and expect the stores to still be stocked, the money to keep flowing, the system to keep working.

We’ve all become spoiled and selfish, we increasingly see each other as just means to an end. Trump is just a manifestation of that. We can’t just bail on each other, we have to support each other or the contract breaks.
