Does anyone know why they selected this site when they first move their office to Atlanta? I feel they could get better talent if their NA HQ was in Midtown or Buckhead.

They wanted a ton of cheap land for their test track, and of course good airport access to easily court folks going to/from VW's HQ in NoVA and Germany

To go a step further... Their customer experience component of their headquarters does attract some people who fly into town to take part of it. That was the major reason they wanted sizeable land near the airport vs. Alpharetta.

Great win for South metro which holds some of the highest paying corporate jobs in the area with Chick Fil Lay, Delta, and Porsche. Bravo!!!

Unless I'm misunderstanding the article, this is just going to be a gigantic repair and detail shop.

Certainly nothing to do back flips over. The South Metro already has plenty of these (though none maybe as large or specific to the Porsche brand), nor are they huge job creators.

Well maybe not back flips from you, but some technical student graduates from a two- year community college automotive program will be grateful to land at BMW, I’m grateful for any jobs regardless of the estimation in the eyes of others.

No one claimed this to be a new corporate relocation....

They are doubling the acreage.

They're doubling down on their customer experience center, which means their strategy must have been working and it is a further sign they are entrenching that as a permanent site.

Actually, their original North American HQ was in Perimeter Center in Sandy Springs, which was probably closer to where their workers lived but not exactly conducive to zipping around corners at high speeds.
