So I saw an episode of Atlanta Eats and the Magnolia room was featured. Ventured on to Yelp to check the reviews and saw some said Matthew's Cafeteria was better.

So which one is better?
And....can my locals steer me in the direction of other places like this?

Thank you!

Piccadilly is an old reliable. There are a few left in the Atlanta area. I like it, brings back pleasant memories.

Hmm, I think we will give the nod to Magnolia but it is a slight margin. Very slight. They are the same but different and both are "ok". We really don't eat out or get take out much at all and that type of food is not our favorite.

Not sure where you live but if you are in that part of town there is a Taste of Tucker 30 day event going on. It's an online event where they throw it back to when that event was live. You can also search Facebook.

Winston-Salem, NC based K&W is an institution in NC, Va and SC, and they opened a few in metro Atlanta in the 90s but they didn't last. We used to go to the one in Lilburn.

Cafeterias of several brands used to be in malls in Raleigh including Piccadilly.

It’s 50 miles outside of Atlanta but Longstreet Cafe in Gainesville is one of our favorite places to eat. Good, old fashioned southern food served cafeteria style.

I see in the photos of Longstreet, there are some things that are self-serve.

Have they made changes in light of Covid, or are there still self-serve sections?

As of last week they had made it where you tell the people what you want and they dish it out. Some things are already prepackaged in plates that you can get yourself. The thing that I like best about that restaurant is the fact that they will come around from behind the buffet area and help my elderly mother get her food and carry her plate and tray for her. Great service and great food.

Mathew's is very mediocre. While not a cafeteria, Mary Mac's has about the best southern food you are going to find.

I've heard a lot of people say that like the Colonnade on Cheshire bridge road.

Mary Mac's is good but I believe they have been closed down since COVID.
