The Sandy Springs-based Inspire Brands is in talks to purchase the parent company of Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin Robbins, The New York Times reported Sunday.he deal with Dunkin' Brands, which has a company valuation at nearly $9 billion, could be announced Monday, according to the report, which cites two confidential sources. The New York Times said the two people requested anonymity because the talks are confidential and they cautioned that the deal was not yet final.

Dunkin' and Baskin Robbins joining the umbrella of Arby's, Buffalo Wild Wings, Jimmy John's, and Sonic Drive In could be a good move. Baskin Robbins could benefit from a brand expansion.

I could see some cost savings from mix stores that are Dunkin'+Jimmy Johns+Baskin Robbins.

One problem Dunkin Donuts, Baskin Robbins, and Jimmy Johns have is that they are primarily hit hard at key times of day only. This leads to them primarily being franchised into tighter spaces with smaller dining rooms than most typical fast food places. Having a larger shared dining room it fits your Breakfast Rush, then the lunch rush, and then the evening ice cream.

I don't think that is nessecarily their goal, but I can see some possibilities.

I would think so, as Inspire Brands moved here not that long ago, they renovated those buildings off 400 just north of 285.

Also, National DCP is the $2B supply chain arm of dunkin, which is already headquarted here if I'm not mistaken.

Inspire Brands, a holding company backed by the Roark Capital Group, a private equity firm, is purchasing Dunkin', which also owns Baskin-Robbins. Inspire already owns 11,000 Arby's, Buffalo Wild Wings, Sonic, Jimmy John's and other restaurants.
Inspire, which will take on Dunkin's debt in the deal, plans to acquire outstanding Dunkin' shares at $106.50 apiece. The stock was priced at $99.71 per share when the market closed on Friday.

Usually, when these stories about potential mergers / acquisitions are "leaked," the deal is already complete. They're just putting the final touches on it, as well as trying to see how the markets will react.

Exactly, it's stated in one of the articles that this has been in the works prior to COVID.
