Is it time to put down the preemergent yet? Temps seem to be warming up and the stems from my flowers have emerged from the ground.

I would wait until at least Valentine's Day.

I don't think the unseasonable weather we've had the past couple days has been sufficient to raise soil temperatures enough for most weed seeds to germinate. If it has... there are still a couple deep freezes in our immediate future to kill them off.

We always applied pre-emergent in late February - early March. Where we are now, we put it down a few weeks ago.

I planned to put mine down end Feb. You also want to plan around the weather, such that there is about 0.5" of rain to get it into the soil.
