Peachtree City once again has maintained its national reputation for the best family friendly place. This time it has been chosen by Realtor.com as one of the nation's best family suburban cities of 2021.

Realtor.com "took into account the percentage of children living in each city, school rankings, and family-friendly businesses (including day care centers). To make sure these were places parents would want to live, too, there had to be plenty of restaurants, bars, and things to do, as well as a reasonable commute (most are under 40 minutes) for when they do have to go to the office."

Realtor.com praises that: "[t]his master-planned community outside of Atlanta is a walkable paradise for families."

Quote:
A mere 30 miles from downtown Atlanta, idyllic Peachtree City offers a vacation-like atmosphere with the convenience of a suburb.

Built in the 1950s, the planned community features two lakes and an extensive trail system, which has the added quirk of being traveled largely by golf cart. Many of the city’s residents own golf carts, which allow them to use the 100 miles of tree-lined paths for easy access to everything from shops to the area’s schools (the paths are also pedestrian-friendly). With three golf courses, a tennis facility, a BMX park and multiple turf soccer fields, Peachtree City offers ample opportunity to get outside.

Also outdoors? Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater, known as “The Fred.” Due to the pandemic, the woodsy concert venue’s popular summer series has been scaled back in recent years. In the past it hosted acts like Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Kool & the Gang, and KC & the Sunshine Band.
Around 16,000 people commute to Peachtree City for work, many to Panasonic’s automotive division offices. As of June, the city’s unemployment rate was just 3.3%, among the lowest on our list and far below the national average.
For all its amenities, home prices in Peachtree City are relatively affordable. The average home sold for around $355,000 last year. Fayette County, where Peachtree City is located, grew 11% since the 2010 census and the area is becoming increasingly diverse. Data from the 2020 Census shows the county’s Asian American population grew by more than 50%, and the African American population grew by nearly 40%.

Default Peachtree City’s Partners II Pizza to be demolished and rebuilt in proposed Aberdeen Village Center 3-story makeover

Quote:
An iconic Peachtree City pizza place — Partners II — may be headed toward a makeover, and in the process may trigger the redevelopment of Aberdeen Village Center, the city’s first retail center, dating from the 1970s.

If rezoning is approved by the City Council, a restaurant that served its first pizza in January 1977 will still be in its familiar place, but it will be encased in a 3-story brick building that replaces the 1970s-style wooden storefront and adds 12 high-end condominiums as a second and third story. The original will be demolished and rebuilt, with its familiar ground-level outdoor patio moved upstairs to the second-floor rooftop.

The condos will range in size from 1,900 to 2,500 square feet. The owners’ attorney Rick Lindsey — in response to a query about the price of the new units — answered, “They are high end, not cheap, probably north of $500,000.”

Great news. The city's village concept is cool but the shopping areas are aging and in need of renovation, remodeling and revisioning. Adding more upscale non-SFHs should certainly be a part of that.
