Cisco could be the latest in a string of economic development wins for Atlanta, focused on the tech sector or companies opening tech hubs, including Google, Microsoft, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, BlackRock, Thyssenkrupp and, in a deal announced Wednesday morning, a new Visa office, also in Midtown.

Let it pour!

Cisco still has that large 270 acre office campus nearly Lawrenceville that was left over from the Scientific Atlanta acquisition.

In total I think there are about 1,500-2,000 Cisco employees already in the Atlanta area.

It will be interesting to see what this brings that total to.

Is that an office? I always thought it was some sort of an assembly plant from the SA days?

It has over 750,000 square feet of Class A office space across 6 different buildings still valued around $100m. It was very much a unique, build to suit campus.

It was built as a one size fits all engineering/operations campus. It is where they would built prototypes and manufacture some made to order equipment, as well as run all of their business office operations.

Now this wasn't all used by Cisco and they have moved out of some of these buildings. Some of the buildings were built for outside contractors working with Cisco. They have some of these buildings up for rent to the 3rd parties.

Many don't realize it is there, because it is hidden amongst a thick layer of trees and out of view from all major roads around it.

Wow I didn't realize Cisco was a thing anymore. Nice to hear he'll fill that crack in the skyline with a "Tho-tha-tho-tho-thong"

They're huge. It's a conglomerate that will gobble up any smaller successful business related to networking, networking security, IoT, app development, video distribution, etc.. to try to stay relevant. The big thing is they started dropping their consumer electronics out of their business around 2005, so it is less and less of a common consumer brand identity.

It actually gets hard to tell where they are going to focus their business in the future, from the wide variety of acquisitions they make.

80k employees and approx. $50b in annual revenue and 10.5B in net income. It's the top 50 largest companies in the US in terms of market capitalization.

Used to work in the Scientifc Atlanta office for Cisco off Sugarloaf Pkwy. Good to see they’re upping their presence.
