Hello,
I am relocating to NW Georgia over Christmas break with my 9th grade son and 7th grade boy/girl twins. Commute will not be an issue with the new job and after many visits to the area, I’m honing in on Cartersville, Canton or Woodstock.
My high schooler has an IEP for OHI due to mild cerebral palsy and mild cognitive delays from stroke at birth. He is mainstreamed with accommodations and minimal support. My twins are in the gifted program and avid tennis players. While Cartersville is charming and more affordable, Cherokee County seems to have more options and resources for my kids.
Please share your special needs and gifted experiences with each school district.
TIA.

No direct experience, only to say that my impression of those districts matches your initial assessment

I personally don’t have any special needs and/or gifted experiences with either school district, but I can say that your assessment of the differences between both districts are right.

Cartersville is a smaller exurban city school district while Cherokee County is a more resource-rich outer-suburban metropolitan school district with more of the resources to offer the type of education programs your family needs.
