”Caniacs" rejoice! Atlanta is one step closer to welcoming Raising Cane's! ToNeTo Atlanta has learned that Raising Cane's has secured a site in Buford for what will likely be its first restaurant in metro Atlanta. Multiple real estate sources, including one with direct knowledge of the transaction, tell ToNeTo Atlanta that Raising Cane's will replace Arby's at 3300 Buford Drive, across the street from the Mall of Georgia. Raising Cane's intends to demolish the existing building and erect their latest prototype restaurant in its place. The freestanding Arby's has been in business since 2001.

Atlanta doesn’t lack for fast food chicken establishments, but Raising Caine’s chicken strips are on another level.

Currently, the only Georgia location is in Athens near UGA.

What took so long? It's been in Athens for 15 years.

We have them out here in AZ and people seem to like the food judging by the long lines at the drive-through. I tried them and don't get the hoopla surrounding the chain. The food tasted bland. I guess it's all about the sauces?

I agree. I prefer Zaxby's over Cane's.

It’s about the sauce for Canes. The chicken alone is nothing to write home about. It’s the Canes Sauce that makes it worth it.

I agree, it's no better than Zaxby's. Both are fine.

I went to Cane's once in MN. Frankly, I didn't get the appeal. You basically have one menu choice, and it's chicken with frozen french fries and a piece of toast. Like seriously?

If fries are one of 3 things you offer, at least make them fresh.

To be fair, I felt the same the first time I went to Zaxby's. I personally don't get the appeal to either. Which is fine, I might not be their target market. Clearly Cane's targets the college munchie crowd.

Which is why they've been in Athens so long and are just now entering the Atlanta market. There's no shortage of good chicken places in Atlanta to begin with.

Guthrie's was king in Athens when I was there. Zaxby's and Cane's are similar, but just have a couple more offerings. I'd still take a Gut box over any other.

Guthries is my favorite. I used to eat it when I lived in Tallahassee.

I was happy to see they had one in Peachtree Corners, but then they closed it.
