Actually this will be the second precinct in Buckhead.

Is this a band-aid? sure, but a welcomed one.

So far I appreciate the communication in how the mayor plans to grow the force. Only thing is I hope the squeaky wheel of Buckhead isn't the only part of town to gain more officers and we hear about other parts of town in the coming months getting some "oil" so to speak.

You'd hope they'd lock them up for a bit. Sadly, you would have a group that wants to go the opposite of that.

I’m not sure if this is a good correlation. Decatur, Brookhaven, Chamblee, Doraville, Dunwoody, Sandy Springs, and (until recently) Buckhead and Lenox have had MARTA Stations in their communities for years without an uptick or surge in crime.

Is there any local data that shows that transit correlates to more crime?

The perception that Marta=more crime has been used as a classist and racist smokescreen for decades. The only correlation is that mass transit tends to go to areas of high density and when anything happens on Marta, the news makes a bigger deal of it than if it had happened a block away from the station. Wherever there are people, you're going to find crime, but I've never seen a bank robber use Marta as a getaway vehicle.

I'd wager that 99% of the robbers, shootists, car break-in specialists and other rowdies travel by car.

One thing the Buckhead secessionists don’t talk about is that the people they arrest will still end up in the Fulton County court system where they’ll receive the exact same treatment had they been arrested by an Atlanta cop. Becoming a city doesn’t magically make the county judges dole out harsher sentences.

The water boys don’t. They were attacking people’s cars at Lenox and Peachtree Road yesterday. Cops pulled up and they all started sprinting toward the Lenox station to escape. These little **** have got to be arrested and punished severely. People are sick of their crap. Won’t feel bad if they get hit one day.
