I have been looking into potential relocation to Atlanta area.
We were also looking at Dallas.
In Dallas homes with pools are fairly common however we are not finding as many homes with pools in Atlanta area.
Is there a reason for lack of pools?
Is it weather or cost or some other factor?

Lots of suburban neighborhoods are swim/tennis, thus not the need for individual pools.

This.

Swim/tennis communities are really popular and very common (seemingly exceedingly common) in the Atlanta suburbs.

... So just be aware that homes with individual/private swimming pools likely will be very rare in the Atlanta suburbs, because of the virtual total dependence on community swimming pools in the region.

Plus, flat yards can be hard to come by in many areas.

Being from Florida, where virtually every house has a pool. And my kids being accustomed to their own pool, we are looking too... But there aren't many especially if you are looking under $600k. And if you want to put one in. At least from my Florida experience... You are looking between $20k-$35k

I was in Dallas forum and people are getting quotes of $150K for standard-sized pool these days. I will be ecstatic to put in a pool for $35K if we can find a home with flat lot.

Do you like the idea of living in a swim/tennis community instead?

I think putting in a pool costs 4X what you mentioned.

But either way, living in a swim/tennis community, I can tell you it’s an awesome way to meet and hang out with neighbors
