I always thought this would be a good idea since the city lacks natural water features. I was thinking an urban district with a river walk. The Whittier Mill district is interesting with it's history, and would be a great location for a park.

Imagine if Downtown Atlanta was built where the Chattahoochee was at.

Nice to hear. Yeah unfortunately, downtown ATL was focused where the ridge line/ railroad lines were built. As opposed to a lot of cities built on waterways/harbor areas. (Not all cities.) But both Atlanta, and really Georgia as a whole (except for the coastal area) are quite relatively low on water features. Funny that the 2 nearest lakes to Atlanta (Lanier and Allatoona) are both man-made.

The Chattahoochee wasn't even the city limits until the 1950's. It was outside the city and unfortunately was always used as an industrial area. And polluted.

Georgia does not have any natural lakes.

Which is bizarre since it's the largest state east of the Mississippi.

All of its neighbors have a bunch of lakes. And the rivers aren't tiny muddy creeks.

ALL of the lakes in Georgia are manmade. The only natural water features we have are the rivers, the coast, and the Okefenokee swamp.

Seoul has the Han River in the middle of the city but they also built the 7-mile long Cheonggyecheon Stream as a walkable area in the heart of the city. I would love Atlanta to build something like this if they cap I-75/I-85.

Peachtree Creek could/should be made into a water feature for the City of Atlanta.

Sterigenics will make sure to sprinkle some cancer on these folks. On a serious note, does anyone know what the latest is with them and the hundreds of lawsuits? I am hoping they are forced to shut down. Sucks that something like that is so close to nature.
