Unfortunately, Marta would not be a timesaver at all for this commute anyway. It would almost certainly take longer. Even if you parked at the closest rail station, you would still have to get from the Decatur station to Emory. That is just a bad commute, no way around it. If it is during the rush hour it will probably be well over an hour.

I'm a big MARTA proponent, but I don't see it helping you with this trip, either. I guess you'd have to get on the Bankhead line, which is the diciest bit as far as safety, IMO. Then you could either get off at Inman Park and take the #6 bus to Emory, or go a few stops further to the Decatur station and take the free shuttle from there to Emory. You'd have the advantage of only needing to catch one train, and you can work or read on the train, but anytime you add a bus into the mix, it gets longer. I wish I had better advice. Will your hours be offpeak, at least? That would help with traffic.

Does anyone take that route? if so, would you give me some few pointers on the commute? thanks,

That's a rough commute no matter how you cut it. Almost an hour by car, if you go during rush hour -- parking at Emory is not terribly convenient -- and probably more by MARTA.

If you can schedule your classes creatively, you might make it work for a year. After that, you will be sooo ready to move. I currently live right at Emory and am rehabbing a house on Bankhead/Hollowell, which eventually runs to Mableton. There is no way I would choose to make that commute if I could avoid it.
