Hello everyone,
I am moving to the Mableton area in July, we are moving from Utah, my husband got a job in that area, but the problem is I'll be attending Emory University. I have heard that the traffic is terrible, I've tried to look up routes on Marta, but their site is so not user friendly. Does anyone take that route? if so, would you give me some few pointers on the commute? thanks,
Sandra

Mableton to North Decatur is kind of a long haul. Wow.

I have no idea how easy I-20 is to take across the city like that. The precise period of time you are traveling through the city might be critical, though.

Have you all committed to a place already?

If not, you might consider looking for something more central, Sandy Springs or Dunwoody perhaps that gives you a more even commute.

Even without traffic, Mableton is just kind of far from Emory.

Sorry to say, but that drive sounds brutal. Logistically it will be tough, b/c Emory is kind of off the interstates a bit anyhow, and from Mableton the only way I can really see is taking 20 E, then connector N, which will be mayhem at peak hours. It's too far for backroads to be remotely feasible. Maybe take 20 E all the way to Moreland, then go straight north? That's probably what I would do to avoid getting on the connector. The worst part will just be that part of 20 heading into town, so if you can leave your house early it might not be that bad.

Yeah, Emory is in the middle of a residential area. It's another 10-15 minutes once you get off the interstate,....

I would be looking for a place to live between Mableton and Emory ie Loring Heights. I think some compromise is needed here, otherwise you're looking at a really difficult commute.

Going to be a rough haul- I would avoid MARTA at all costs. You could take US 78 (known as Veterans Memorial; BankHead; Ponce; Scott)all the way to Emory(Briarcliff or Clifton).

I was thinking about taking MARTA, it would really save me time, but now I am scared, I read somethings about crime happening on MARTA or the parking lots.
