Considering a move to Atlanta, near Emory, and looking for some advice on good fitness centers in the area. Any suggestions?

There is an LA Fitness (national chain) at Toco Hills, which is right around the corner. There is a new place called 24 Hour Fitness at Sage Hill in the Kroger Shopping Center, and NorthEast (I think) Athletic Club on Sheridan Road is an upscale full-service gym. Emory also has faciliites, although I don't know if they are open to the public.

These are good choices...yes, the Emory facility (located on the Clairmont Campus) is open to the public...if I remember right, there's a $500 annual membership fee...a great deal IMO.
The Decatur/DeKalb YMCA at Clairemont and Maedaris is also a great facility, but relatively pricey.

Yes, Emory's facilities, which are really, really nice, are open to the public. They offer swimming lessons, etc, for kids. The huge outdoor pool there is very popular with families.
