Why isn't the city of roswell doing anything about the decline of this road? There are tons of day laborers standing around all the time for example. It is so close to historic downtown that it is quite shocking. Also does anyone know of any plans to tear down the cheap crappy apartments in this area and Holcomb Bridge and make new developments? Can you recommend a place I can get this information? I hate to see the area being run down like this. I've been watching property values plummit.

You are describing similar activity found in many parts of Atlanta, near and on Buford Hwy, on Hwy 54 in Forest Park, Shallowford Road in Chamblee, areas of Marietta, Gwinnett, etc.

I would ask the City of Roswell itself if I were you.

I don't know if they will tear down old apartments in that area unless the owners don't see them as being profitable. If you read the Atlanta business Chronicle on a regular basis, commercial real estate section mentions buying and selling of various commercial property. I think it mentions some things about apartment complexes. You could contact the owners if you are that motivated.

it's already in planning stages -- that dumpy shopping center containing some hardware store, the Southern Skillet restaurant, etc. plus some of the apts. behind it will be razed for high-end development. It may be a bit longer now that the economy (especially housing, which was a big part of the plans) is in the toilet, but it will be gone.

Not sure where you'd find anything about it online, but i've read about it in both the AJC and the Roswell Beacon.

turns out there is quite a bit on the city's website:

City of Roswell || Midtown Roswell Redevelopment Plan (http://www.roswellgov.com/index.php/p/233 - broken link)
