I hope someone can help me with some info on relocating to atl with my section 8. I need to know the step i need to take and how do the program work down there. Can i get a house or an apartment, can i add people to my section 8 like my sister and her 2 kids wants to move with me but they are not on my section 8 here in nyc. Will i be able to get a three bedroom house if it's only me on my section 8. See me and my sister are childcare provider in our apartments and it's slow business here and we want to be able to do the same in atl, so any information will be a big help. Thank you

Click on the link below to see how wonderful Section 8 housing in Atlanta is. You're about the 100th person who's come in here looking to do exactly what you're asking about, and you'll quickly find that Atlanta isn't your best choice if you're looking for Section 8 assistance.

Default Don't be discourage

Don't let that information (BS) discourage you from moving from NY to Atlanta. Atlanta's housing voucher (section 8) is not open to new applicants because of the long waiting list and the housing projects that are being torn down in Atlanta. You can look on Atlanta's craigslist: atlanta classifieds for jobs, apartments, personals, for sale, services, community, and events for property owners that might be offering section 8 rentals or the www.ajc.com rental classifies. If you're sister and her kids aren't already on your section 8 certificate. You'll want to contact your local housing office that handles Section 8 to see how to go about getting them added and what other requirements have to be met before you get down to Atlanta. Be fore warn though that adding them might make you ineligible if income limit is exceed for section 8. Good luck in your search

Also, in Metro Atlanta, you must have a license and zoning approval to operate home day care. In many neighborhoods, your neighbors will turn you in if you aren't properly licensed.

The economy isn't much better here and companies are laying off people right and left, so you may have just as hard a time getting clients here as you are there.

I'm beginning to wonder if some of these posts are fake, just to stir things up a bit. In the last couple of months, we have received a number of inquiries in the Atlanta room about Section 8, and strangely, many times it always involves single women with two kids from NJ or NY, and the posters are new with a "10" reputations.

Has anyone checked the IP addresses of those posting these to see if by chance they match and could be the same person posting this over and over to stir the waters? I find it odd that so many single women with two kids in the Northeast on Section 8 suddenly want to move to Atlanta, Georgia.
