We are OK now but our political leaders lack any foresight to make sure when the next wave hits we are prepared.

Charlotte is in a severe drought as well, so the situation here isn't terribly different. The main reservoir for the area, Lake Lanier, is around 15 or 16 ft below full pool. Rain has picked up in July, but the drier months of fall are coming up fast and it's a good bet that the lake will set a new record low, unless we see a tropical storm or massive rain in the next couple of months.

Other lakes in the area are doing a bit better, but the area is still about a foot down for rainfall over the last 12 months. Talk of relaxing restrictions has surfaced every time things look a bit better, but we're not out of the woods yet.
