We really miss being able to walk to stores and restaurants and neighbors being out and about.

I do like where I live like I said before and maybe this choice was the right one for us for now. Maybe when the nest is empty!
I'm like you, kaday - and we live in the same area too. I wasn't even aware of the differences in culture between East Cobb and intown Atlanta, we had very little time to find housing for our relocation, and people recommended the schools in East Cobb. I too was over-anxious about schools - it's easy to be that way when you're coming from far away - in our case, even a different country.

So ... I like our nice leafy subdivision, and our daughter's schools, and our big backyard for my two big dogs. But after the girl gets through high school, we want to get ourselves to somewhere less suburban - and to be honest, less southern.

Rainy when the time comes I can recommend a whole lot of placesif you end up someday in the Northeast!

I don't think we'll be here but a few more years (as rumors have it lately) so I 'll have the chance to do it all over again someplace else. Maybe I can find the right combination the next time. In the meantime my kids are getting a great education and enjoying the big yard. In this time of our lives it is all about the kids.

I wish we would have found our real estate agent sooner! Our search went from the pits to the penthouse.
