My partner and I are preparing to relocate to Georgia next month (jan 09), Her job is in Norcross, and we were looking to rent in lawrenceville, duluth, buford, etc., The problem that we are having is that we are now in the richest damn part of maryland which is Montgomery county maryland we pay close to $2000 in rent which is including utilities as well, we have applied for two apartments and we were turned down, I know we don't have the best of credit but it is not the worst either, does anyone have any suggestions as to apartment complexes that work with you with credit issues . We are very desperate to move we have given our notice here and she is expected to start her job feb 2nd 2009, so if anyone can please give us feedback that would be great.

Thank you very much

Have you been told that it's definitely your credit, or are you just assuming that? It could be that your income isn't high enough, or something else. The big companies like Post Properties are usually the toughest on their credit requirements, so you may want to try looking at smaller complexes, or check Craigslist for some private listings.

Thanks for responding Bob, I have been told that it is our credit, combined we are making close to $85,000 a yr, I tried Craigslist, just don't trust them, heard too many stories about them.

Thanks

You should certainly try craigslist. Now a days people are desperate to get renters a lot of places aren't even checking credit and will give you a month's free of rent.

Good luck to you.

Also contact promove.com and see what they have to say about it. A number of folks have said they were helpful on the site in the past.

And yes, per Bob's comments - avoid Post Properties as they're about the most strick you can get regarding checking your income, credit score, and everything else. Heck, when I moved to Atlanta in 1984, Post wouldn't even rent you a place if you drove a pickup truck or owned a motorcycle (for real).

Condos can be iffy too -- remember most of them are owned by someone as well.

I second the suggestion of contacting promove.

I would put in search engine ( which is on every web page above)or go to google and put in Buford GA Home Rent , you get about 10 places to open and see on fiirst page. I found in suwanee that there were so many Homes renting, I think some will be willing
