Luella Middle School has become a great place now that the trailers are gone. 750 kids, caring administrators, good teachers, and they are really pushing kids to use technology. I think its been great for my kids.

Locust Grove is going the way of the rest of the county, which is going the way of Clayton and DeKalb counties. It is geting diverse if diversity means more low income families, black, white and hispanic, which isd reflective in the crime rate and the types fo crimes that are currently occurring. The traffic is terrible in teh city, with a very poor plan for infrastructure improvements. A traffic light was finally put in at HW 42 and Peeksville, it was needed ten years ago, HW 42 should have been four-laned ten years ago from the Clayton line int Butts county. If you HAVE to move there I'd recommend staying on the east side of I-75. The unincorporated areas are still verry rural. But there are some plans to develope the property adjacent to the new reservior that is going to ruin that area.

Ok, I have friends in Locust Grove and have never heard them complain about the crime. I live nearby and half the time don't lock my doors at night--I feel incredibly safe in my rural area. However, the locals complain all of the time about the crime they read about in the paper and say, "It just isn't what it used to be." Another big saying is, "You move to the country and the city just follows you!" (My town, as it turns out, existed but was not really populated until the white flight out of Stone Mountain in the 70s. Yet, I haven't met a soul here who thinks they are racist.)

Georgians are pretty much like Alabamians and are friendly and warm people. My neighbors have brought us soup when our family had the flu, have invited our kids to blueberry pick their bushes, and we all wave to everybody whether we know them or not. If you liked living outside of Birmingham, I think you will like living outside of Atlanta.
