TransGaming picks ATL for new unit HQ
Video game software company
TransGaming will start a division in Atlanta that will be home to operations for the GameTree.tv digital home platform.
Toronto, Canada-based TransGaming describes its GameTree.tv as an on-demand games platform that gives consumers access to video games through their Intel consumer electronics media processor powered set-top box or consumer electronics devices.
The company will create new media technology jobs in Atlanta as part of the digital home business expansion, the
Georgia Department of Economic Development said.
The company also named Blake Lewin president of TransGaming’s GameTree.tv digital home division. Lewin, former vice president of Media Entertainment at
Turner Broadcasting , is credited in the video gaming industry as the creator of GameTap, a first-of-its-kind broadband entertainment network.

Ohio's pain is Atlanta's gain
First up was NCR, the famed, 125-year-old cash register company that moved its headquarters from Dayton, Ohio, to Duluth last June.
Then came Fischbein, which announced in July that Suwanee, not Cleveland, would be the site for a new production line.
Finally, earlier this month, aluminum can maker Novelis quit Cleveland and moved its North American headquarters to Buckhead.

QualTex to create 125 jobs in Norcross
Atlanta Business Chronicle: QualTex to create 125 jobs in Norcross
QualTex Laboratories open a blood testing center in Norcross, where it will employ about 125.
The San Antonio, Texas-based firm screens blood and plasma donations for infectious agents.
QualTex plans to invest nearly $12 million in the lab, which once fully operational, expects to test more than eight million biological samples, doubling its current operations. QualTex plans to also house a data center on site at the new facility.

Thanks for posting this. I did a quick search about the business and learned that I knew them as Universal Tax Systems when I lived in Rome. From what I read they are not laying off anyone but all of the current employees at the Rome facility (which is in west Rome) will have to commute to Kennesaw. That's quite a drive. I wonder if they will hire locally to fill any vacancies or just do without the positions. My eye is on this. Thanks again.
