Naw, Georgia ain't turning blue no time soon. With all these houses and Condos being vacant plus an 8% and growing unemployment, these factors will for the time being will halt any out-of-state liberals or moderates from moving to Georgia. Besides our delayed "Conservative counter-revolution" has yet to work its way through the cycle. Maybe in another 8-12 years.

1. People haven't stopped moving to Georgia...liberal, moderate, or conservative. The population is still increasing as fast as any city/state in the U.S.
2. Vacant condos and houses won't deter anyone from moving to Georgia...on the contrary, they may attract more new residents.
3. The blueing of Georgia isn't only dependent on new residents from out of state. There were a ton of new liberal to moderate voters registered for the last election, and I believe that a rising tide of conservative to moderate voters are becoming disillusioned with their past choices and are considering loosening up a bit.

We need a break...this I-hate-everything/intolerant/angry/restricted atmosphere we've been living in for the past few years is too stressful - and not much fun.

I don't think Georgia is going "blue" any time soon. You have some areas that are getting bluer and some even "purple" but the last election shows that Georgia is solidly red. Even given the Obama coattails and his electoral victories in states like North Carolina, Georgia still voted for McCain by a pretty good margin, and Chambliss took Martin apart in the runoff after narrowly missing 50% in the general election.

Once the country sees Obama and the Democrats in action governing the country, as opposed to their rhetoric and campaign speeches, you will see a big gain for Republicans in the mid-term election in 2010. Mid-term elections typically mean fewer seats for the party in power, and I think this time it will be substantial losses for the Democrats in Congress. Jonny Isakson will win big here in Georgia.

And they are not getting socialism. Of course some people who cannot think and get fast food "thinking" from the AM radio dial think that anything to the left of Sean Hannity is socialism. In other words unless something if far right, then it is considered to be "librel" and the "gov'ment" is always alway bad...

Isn't a lot of what we already have considered "Socialism"? I mean, think about it! "Socialism" is the pool together of public money so that the services that is paid for that pool of money can spreaded out relatively even to everyone right? Isn't Firefighting services "Socialism"? Isn't Police and Military "Socialism"?

There is some interesting cognitive dissonance type of stuff going in the south as it relates what types of "Socialism" is tolerated and which ones are not. My humble opinion, anyways...
