Westward is right. As far as I know, the area around the HS is all a "safe" area to live in. The school is up against the western city limits so you need to verify you are in the city limits when looking at homes in the immediate area, even those a block away. I think the homes south of Dallas Hwy/Whitlock Avenue (street the school is on) have homes in that price range. Closer to town on the other side (I'm thinking Burnt Hickory) may be quite a bit pricier. Check with an agent is good advice. I don't know what the rules are for students that don't live in the city are, but they could range from "not allowed" to "need to pay fee" so you need to find out.
